YDS and YÖKDİL Score Calculator - Points, Letter Grade and Thresholds
Calculate your YDS or YÖKDİL score
60 correct answers in YDS = 75 points.
Thresholds and what they mean
| Score | Meaning | Your status |
|---|---|---|
| 50 | Common minimum for thesis master's programmes (set by each university) | |
| 55 | Minimum for doctorate admission (YÖK graduate regulation) | |
| 65 | Associate professorship language requirement (ÜAK) | |
| 70 | Grade C, lower limit | |
| 80 | Grade B, lower limit | |
| 90 | Grade A, lower limit |
At least 52 correct answers (65 points).
YDS, e-YDS and YÖKDİL all have 80 questions worth 1.25 points each; wrong answers do not reduce the score. Thresholds are set by institutions and may change; check the current regulation.
How YDS and YÖKDİL are scored
ÖSYM's foreign language exams share one rule: 80 multiple-choice questions, 1.25 points per correct answer, no deduction for wrong answers, a scale of 0 to 100. The score is exact, not estimated, so what matters is what a given score unlocks: graduate admission, doctorate requirements, the associate professorship threshold, or the letter grade used in equivalence tables.
Steps
- 1 Choose the exam and enter your correct and wrong answers from the answer key; blanks are worked out for you.
- 2 Read the score and letter grade, then check the threshold table to see which requirements you meet and how many more correct answers the others need.
- 3 Enter a target score to see the minimum number of correct answers it takes.
One formula for three exams
YDS is held on paper twice a year, e-YDS on computer several times a year, and YÖKDİL in science, social science and health tracks. All three have 80 questions and the same scoring, which is why a single calculator covers them and why institutions accept them interchangeably at the same thresholds.
Letter grades and equivalence
YÖK's equivalence table maps scores to letters: 90 and above is A, 80 to 89 B, 70 to 79 C, 60 to 69 D and 50 to 59 E. The same bands apply when YDS scores are compared with TOEFL or other accepted exams, and when the foreign-language allowance for public employees is set.
Which thresholds matter
Doctorate admission requires at least 55 under YÖK's graduate education regulation. Associate professorship applications require 65 under ÜAK rules. Thesis master's programmes have no national minimum; universities commonly ask for 50 or 55. Thresholds are set by regulation and can change, so always confirm with the current text.
Should you guess?
Yes. With no penalty for wrong answers, a blank and a wrong answer score the same, so eliminating options and guessing never lowers your score. The wrong answer count is still asked here so that impossible totals above 80 are caught.
