Rearrange PDF pages

The file is processed on your own device and is never uploaded.

Seeing the page you are moving

Reordering is the one PDF task that cannot be done from a text box. Saying "move page 7 before page 3" assumes you already know what is on pages 3 and 7, and after two moves that knowledge is stale. This tool draws every page first, so the arrangement you are making is the arrangement you are looking at.

Using it in three steps

  1. 1 Drop the PDF and wait a moment while the thumbnails are drawn.
  2. 2 Move pages with the arrows. Reverse flips the whole order, and Original order takes you back to the start.
  3. 3 Press Apply order and download the rearranged file.

The numbers stay with the pages

Each thumbnail is labelled with the page number it had in the original document, and that label travels with it. It would be easy to renumber the tiles after every move so they read 1, 2, 3 down the grid — and it would be the wrong choice, because then you could no longer tell which page you just picked up. The label answers "where did this come from", which is the only question that helps while you are still arranging.

Thumbnails cost a moment

Every page has to be rendered before you can see it, and a hundred-page document takes a few seconds on a laptop and longer on a phone. That wait buys the only thing that makes this tool worth using — and it happens on your device, not a server: the pages are drawn in the page itself, so a document you would never upload can still be rearranged here.

Reordering pages - frequently asked questions

Because each page is being drawn from scratch on your device. A PDF page is a set of instructions, not a picture, so producing a preview means executing those instructions once per page. Text-only documents render fast; pages with large scans take the longest.

Compress PDF Rebuild a PDF with a tidier structure and no metadata. Text-heavy files shrink; documents made of large scans barely change, and the tool says so.
