What if the rules cannot all be satisfied?

It says so, and gives you nothing. That is deliberate: showing a chart that breaks one of your rules would look like a working answer while quietly failing the one thing you asked for. Add seats or drop a rule and try again.

Can I have more seats than people?

Yes. Empty seats appear as a dash and are spread through the grid rather than left in a block at the end, so the room does not end up with one crowded half. Fewer seats than people is refused instead, with the number that would fit.

Does the same arrangement come up again?

Each run is drawn independently, so nothing carries over between weeks. For a class of thirty the number of possible charts is far larger than the number of school days in a lifetime, so a repeat is not something you will see. Rules are applied by drawing again until they hold, which keeps every allowed arrangement equally likely.

Is my class list stored anywhere?

It stays in your own browser so the list is still there next time, and it never reaches a server. That matters here more than on most pages: a class list is a list of named children, and it should not travel anywhere to be shuffled.

Write one pair per line, separated by a comma. Those two will not end up directly beside each other or directly in front and behind. Diagonal neighbours are allowed on purpose: tightening the rule that far often makes the whole chart impossible for no real gain.
