What the converter can and cannot do

PDFs that contain real text convert well: paragraphs, headings, tables and images are recovered and stay editable. A scanned PDF, however, is essentially a photograph of a page — it has no text layer, so the result will contain the images but no words you can type over. If you can select text in your PDF reader, the conversion will work; if you cannot, the file needs text recognition first.

Working with the converted file

You receive a standard DOCX file that opens in Microsoft Word, LibreOffice Writer, Google Docs and Apple Pages. Because a PDF stores positions rather than paragraph structure, complex layouts with columns or text boxes may need a little tidying after conversion.
