About Converting HEIC to JPG
You almost certainly arrived here because a photo from an iPhone refused to open somewhere. Nothing is wrong with the file: since iOS 11 Apple has saved photos as HEIC, a genuinely better format that roughly halves the file size at the same quality. The problem is everything outside Apple’s world, which has been slow to catch up. Converting to JPG trades that efficiency for the one thing you need right now — a file that simply opens.
How to convert HEIC to JPG

What you give up, and what you gain
The gain is compatibility, and it is total: JPG is the one image format that every device, browser, printer and web form has understood for thirty years. The cost is size — the same photo will typically be one and a half to two times larger as a JPG. There is also a second, quieter cost: HEIC is already a lossy format, so saving as JPG is a second round of lossy compression. At quality 90 you will not see it, but it is a reason to keep the original rather than delete it.
Why this one has to run on our server
Our other image converters never send anything anywhere — they run inside your browser. HEIC is the exception, because no browser can decode it: the format is patent-encumbered and browser makers have not shipped a decoder. So this page uploads your photo, converts it, and deletes it automatically within an hour, or immediately when you download the result. We would rather tell you that plainly than pretend otherwise. The photo survives; the details around it may not
The image itself comes through faithfully, at full resolution and correctly rotated. What does not come through is the metadata: the shooting date, the camera settings and the GPS location are dropped during conversion. For sharing a photo publicly that is quietly a good thing — you are not handing out the coordinates of your home. For an archive it is a loss, so keep the HEIC originals if the photos matter to you. Live Photos also become still images; only the key frame is converted.
