THPT Score Calculator - University Admission Score with Priority Points and Graduation Score
Calculate your THPT scores
Admission: total of the three subjects plus priority points, which from 2023 taper for totals of 22.5 and above by the factor (30 − total) / 7.5, capped at 30. Graduation (from 2025): half the average of the exams plus half the school average weighted 1:2:3 for grades 10, 11 and 12, plus incentive points; passing needs 5 and no exam at 1.0 or below. Area and group rules follow the Ministry's regulation.
How THPT scores work
The national high school exam serves two purposes. For graduation, the Ministry combines exam results with school records: from 2025 the exam average and the three-year school average, weighted one, two and three for grades 10, 11 and 12, each count half, and incentive points for certificates or competitions are added. For university admission, universities rank candidates by the total of a three-subject combination plus priority points for area and group. Since 2023 priority points shrink for strong candidates: above a total of 22.5 they are multiplied by (30 minus total) divided by 7.5, so a perfect 30 gets none.
Steps
- 1 In admission mode enter the three subject scores of your combination and choose your area and group priority; the tool applies the tapering rule.
- 2 In graduation mode enter your exam scores, the three school averages and any incentive points to see whether you pass.
- 3 Compare the admission score with last year's benchmark score of the programme you want.
Priority points
Area KV1 adds 0.75, KV2-NT 0.5, KV2 0.25 and KV3 nothing; group UT1 adds 2.0 and UT2 1.0. The two are summed. A candidate from KV1 in group UT2 has 1.75 points, which is applied in full up to a three-subject total of 22.5 and then tapers: at 27 only 0.3 points remain, at 30 none.
The graduation formula
The exam average is the mean of the exams taken, usually four: mathematics, literature and two electives. The school average weights grade 12 three times, grade 11 twice and grade 10 once. Half of each is added, then incentive points. A score of 5 passes unless an exam is at 1.0 or below, which fails regardless of the total.
Benchmark scores
Each programme announces a benchmark score after admissions close, the lowest admission score accepted. Medicine, computer science and some economics programmes at leading universities have required 26 to 29 on a 30-point scale; many programmes admit from 18 to 22. Last year's benchmark is the practical target, adjusted for changes in demand.
Limits of this calculator
Some programmes weight one subject double, use a 40-point scale or convert certificates such as IELTS into a subject score; those rules are specific to the university. The Ministry's regulation for the current year is the authority on graduation and priority rules.
